Budget Hotel in Pune

Team Behind - Hotel Sapna is owned and managed by the ‘Rawal Family’. The pioneers of budget Hotels in Pune. Hospitality is indeed a tradition of the group. The late Mr. Mafatlal Rawal started the business with ‘Gujarat Lodge’ in 1923. Being located in the city Center it was the choice of travellers for clean and VFM accommodation and food. They have catered to Mahatma Gandhi often during his stay at the Aagakhan Palace in Pune. It is still operational under a new management.

On 27th Feb 1973, Mr. Ashok Rawal started ‘Hotel Sapna’. At that time there were very few Hotels of repute in Pune. Built at a cost of a Million Rupees, it was a landmark on Jangli Maharaj Road. Once again the preffered choice of travellers for business and leisure. The Hotel was patronised regularly by personalities like Balasaheb Thackeray, O. P. Nayyar and many others. The Gujrati Thali was very popular with celebs like the Raj Kapoor family and other well known theatre and film personalities and industrialists like the Poonawala Group and Venky’s Group.

The Hotel has hosted the Pune mayor elections for nearly 20 years in a row and the historic annual Mumbai Pune Cycle Race ended at Hotel Sapna with the Hotel hosting the cyclists and other members to a well deserved treat of their popular Gujrati Thali for many years.

Today the tradition is carried forward by his grandson Mr. Darshan Rawal. He is an all India gold Medallist from the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Dadar, and Mumbai.

After a short stint at the J. W. Marriott Hotel, Mumbai in 2002 he decided to join the family business. Under his expertise the Hotel has earned a similar reputation for being a three star Hotel with value for money prices at a city center location in Pune. The Hotel reviews and ranking on web portals like www.tripadvisor.in, www.travelguru.com, www.makemytrip.com etc. speak volumes about its popularity.

The Hotel is refurbished in November 2010 at a cost of 10 Million Rupees.
